Tasty Pav Bhaji without readymade masala,,

One of the most loved Indian street food is Pav bhaji. Still, many are in dilemma whether this is healthy or unhealthy food. Any food prepared with right spices, vegetables, cleanliness and love will turn out to be a healthy choice always. This is what I believe. Lets turn out the street food to a tasty healthy choice by cooking it in the below given way.

Required ingredients:

Potatoes – 2 medium size
Carrot – 1
Capsicum – 1
Green peas – 2 tbsp
Beans – 50g
Onion – 1 big
Tomato – 2 medium size

Vegetable oil – 1 tbsp
Garlic – 8 cloves
Red chilli – 2
Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
Coriander powder – 1 tsp
Red chilli powder – 3/4 tsp
Garam masala powder – 1 tsp
Lemon – 1
Salt -as required
Butter – 2 tsp
Coriander leaves – for garnishing

Plain rolled bread for toasting – 8

Preparation Method:

  1. Cut the potatoes, carrot, beans and capsicum finely.
  2. Pressure cook these vegetables along with green peas and a cup of water for 2 whistles.
  3. Crush the garlic and red chilli coarsely.
  4. Chop the onions and tomatoes finely.
  5. Heat the kadai and add oil.
  6. Add the cumins then crushed garlic and red chilli and saute.
  7. Add the cut onions and fry until onion turns transparent.
  8. Add the tomatoes and fry until it gets mashed.
  9. Now add turmeric, coriander and red chilli powders and fry for 2 minutes.
  10. Filer the water and mash the boiled vegetables.
  11. Add vegetables boiled water and boil until raw masala smell goes off.
  12. Add mashed vegetables now and cook for 5 minutes. It allows masalas blend well with veggies.
  13. Add garam masala and mix well. Turn off the heat.
  14. Sprinkle lemon juice and mix.
  15. Add butter as a topping to the masala.
  16. Garnish with coriander leaves.

To prepare Butter Bread Toast:

  1. Now take plain rolled bread and cut into half.
  2. Heat the tawa.
  3. If you have melted butter, you can apply the butter on the bread and place it tawa.
  4. If you have frozen butter, you can directly apply it in heated tawa and place the bread on it.
  5. Slightly toast until it turns light brown.
  6. Flip the other side to toast.
  7. Once both sides get toasted, take out.

Serve the bread with veg bhaji hot along with some onions, green chilli and lemon pieces.
