Badam milk powder recipe with step-by-step pictures and video recipe along with the health benefits of badam.

Almonds are nutrient rich nuts. One of the must have dry fruit. I have been trying to give at least 4 nuts daily to my underweight picky eater kid to improve his nutrient intake. But, he didn’t like plain Almonds (badam). So, I made this badam powder for milk and it was well received by both my kids.

For the kids with poor appetite and intake, this badam comes for help.

The Badam powder making takes just about 15 minutes only to prepare and relish.

Tips for making Badam powder

Badam and Cashew’s oil comes out while grinding them. To avoid oily powder, we need to grind them when these nuts are completely cooled down.

I let it cool down for about 20 minutes. If it is cooled completely, we get nice badam powder while grinding. Otherwise, if you grind them hot, then you get oily powder which is suitable for making badam ladoo.

I have added cashews as well for making this badam powder. The reason is that, we all like the taste of cashews more, compared to almonds. So, I wanted to add the cashew flavor in it to make it more tastier. You could use just the badam if you prefer so.

A pinch of saffron can give it nice flavor. But, this is completely optional. You can leave it if you don’t have or not prefer to add.

Further, I used palm sugar to give it sweet taste. I preferred it over white sugar or brown sugar as I wanted to give this milk on daily basis for kids. You could use sugar or palm sugar depending on the convenience of availability and your interest. But, you should not add any kind of jaggery as it may turn out turnout while storing.

Final and important tip to make badam powder, grind it in pulse mode until its coarse powder. Then add sugar and grind. If you grind faster from the starting, then the oil will be released and it will not be ground evenly. So, to get it evenly ground, first pulse and then grind slow mode.

How to Store Badam powder

You can store it in room temperature for 2 to 3 weeks time in an airtight container. If you want to store for longer days, you can refrigerate and have it. But, I prefer to finish it within 3 weeks and make a fresh powder as needed.
