Pepper Garlic Rasam

Pepper Garlic Rasam is one of our daily food. This helps in increasing immunity and to fight cold and flu. Whenever we had fever in our childhood, we were given only Rasam rice as it helps for easy digestion and overcome bitter taste of mouth.

Here we go for recipe..

Required ingredients:

For tempering:
Vegetable oil – 2 tsp
Curry leaves – few strands
Mustard – 1 tsp
Red chilli – 2
Asefotida / Hing/ Perungayam – 1/4 tsp

Powders:

Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
Pepper powder – 1 tsp
Cumin powder – 1 tsp
Salt – as required

To be crushed:

Garlic – 10 to 15 cloves
Green chilli – 1
Tomato – 1
Tamarind – small lemon size

Coriander leaves for garnishing.

Method:

  1. Heat kadai and add oil
  2. Add curry leaves, mustard, hing and red chilli
  3. Lower the flame and add tamarind extract and water.
  4. Add turmeric powder, pepper powder, cumin powder and salt.
  5. Mash the tomato and add.
  6. Crush the garlic cloves well and add.
  7. Slightly crush the green chilli and add.
  8. Allow spices added water to come to boil and switch off the flame once bubbles start to come.
  9. Add coriander leaves and cover with lid. This gives nice aroma.
  10. Serve hot with rice or drink it as it is.
