Shrimps are one of the best tasty seafood. Once we dined at Mughlai Restaurant in Khobar, Saudi Arabia. That was the first time I had tasted the plain shrimp just with some crushed pepper and coriander. It was so tasty. Since then, this recipe has become part of my cooking.
It is so simple to prepare, yet so tasty and flavorful.
The kids will love this recipe, as it not very spicy with all masalas. You will fully enjoy the prawn and pepper flavor in this dish.
I assure you that it cannot go wrong in anyway and you will surely repeat it. It’s that simple and delicious.

Anyhow, I wanted to give you another aspect of shrimps. Few people might get allergic reactions to Shrimps. If you are allergic to any of shell fish varieties, this might cause allergic problems. So, be aware of this fact.
Let’s move on to prawn stir fry recipe with pepper flavors.
Prawn stir Fry with pepper | Shrimp Pirattal Recipe
Ingredients
- 150 g Prawns Cleaned and deveined
- 1 tblspn Oil for frying
- 1 tsp Mustard urad dal
- few Curry leaves
- 6 Shallots if you dont have shallots, take 1 small size onion
- ½ tsp Ginger garlic paste
- ½ tsp Salt as per taste
- 1 tsp Coriander seeds Crushed
- 1/2 tsp Whole pepper Coarsely crushed
- 1 tbsp Coriander leaves For garnishing
- 1 or 2 Green chilli optional, if you want it spicy
Instructions
- Clean the prawns, remove the outer shell leaving its tail part. De-vein it.
- Heat the Kadai and add oil.
- Add mustard and urad dal, curry leaves. Fry for a minute. If you want to include green chilli, add it now.
- Add onions and fry until onion turns transparent.
- Add ginger garlic paste and saute until it's smell goes off.
- Add required salt and saute for few seconds.
- Now add the cleaned prawns and spread in the pan.
- Add crushed pepper and crushed coriander seeds.
- Flip around all the prawn pieces and cook for couple of minutes.
- Again flip to other side and cook for another 1 or 2 minutes until the prawn is cooked.
- Once the prawns are cooked, transfer to the plate and serve hot.

Tip: Do not overcook prawns as they will turn rubbery. Remove from heat and change to another bowl once cooked.

- Add ginger garlic paste and saute until its raw smell goes off.
- Add salt and fry for few seconds.
- Add prawns and saute for couple of minutes.
- Add crushed pepper and crushed coriander seeds.
- Stir and cook for couple of minutes.
- Flip around and cook for another minute.
- Remove from hot pan once it is cooked, otherwise it will become hard and rubbery.
- Transfer to a plate and garnish with coriander leaves.
- Prawn pepper stir fry is ready to serve.
You can have this along with Rasam rice or just make it as a great starter.
