Mutton Rasam
Mutton Rasam is tasty dish and liked by everyone. This helps in increasing immunity and to fight cold and flu. Whenever you boil the mutton separately to make any other dish, you can always make this Rasam easily.
Here we go for recipe..
Required ingredients:
Mutton boiled water
For tempering:
Vegetable oil – 2 tsp
Curry leaves – few strands
Mustard – 1 tsp
Red chilli – 2
Asefotida / Hing/ Perungayam – 1/4 tsp
Powders:
Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
Pepper powder – 1 tsp
Cumin powder – 1 tsp
Salt – as required
To be crushed:
Garlic – 10 to 15 cloves
Green chilli – 1
Tomato – 1
Tamarind – Peanut size
Coriander leaves for garnishing.
Method:
- To prepare mutton boiled water – Boil the mutton along with salt, turmeric and small onions. Drain the water. You can use the boiled mutton for any other mutton dish. We will use the drained water here.
- Heat kadai and add oil
- Add curry leaves, mustard, hing and red chilli
- Lower the flame and add mutton boiled water and tamarind extract and water. All together, total 1 litre would be sufficient for this.
- Add turmeric powder, pepper powder, cumin powder and salt.
- Mash the tomato and add.
- Crush the garlic cloves well and add.
- Slightly crush the green chilli and add.
- Allow spices added water to come to boil and switch off the flame once bubbles start to come.
- Add coriander leaves and cover with lid. This gives nice aroma.
- Serve hot with rice or drink it as it is.
Notes: Tamarind should be lesser than the usual Rasam recipe.
This goes well with rice. Many like to drink rasam as it is. Rasam is really helpful during cold and flu times, as it removes bitterness from the taste buds.
