Lamb liver is considered one of the nutrient rich meat food. Here I come with one of the simple yet tasty and healthy recipe with mutton liver. It doesn’t take much time too. This is super simple and easy too.
If you have never tried it before, then you should try it once now. It is very tasty and spicy when cooked with right Indian spices.
You will not feel the mutton smell as so strong when you add these spices. I was not eating mutton for years from my childhood because of one bad experience with its smell. Later, my husband made me understand it is not the case always. That’s why I insist on adding the spices for lamb liver, which will enhance the taste and make you feel good while having it.
Mutton Liver Health Benefits
When cooked in right way, it tastes so good and you can enjoy its goodness in health benefits as well.
Few of the health benefits of consuming perfectly cooked lamb liver include:
- Mutton liver is highly suggested for improving the hemoglobin level as it is rich in iron contents. It will help to get rid of anemia quickly when included in regular diet.
- It is rich in Vitamin B12. So consuming liver will boost vitamin B12 thus aiding in good neural functions.
- Liver is the source of Vitamin A. Thus eating it will help improve eye-sight problems and reduce inflammations.
- High protein food along with rich Folic acids.
- As it is rich with nutrients, eating the liver will solve nutrient deficiency.

Lamb liver stir fry
Ingredients
- 250 g Lamb liver Cleaned and chopped into small pieces
- 2 medium Onion finely chopped
- 1 inch Cinnamon stick / pattai
- 4 Cloves / Lavangam
- ⅓ tsp Cardamom powder / Yelakai podi
- ½ tsp Fennel seed powder / Perunjeeraga podi
- ½ tsp Aniseed
- 1 tsp Red chilli powder
- 1 tsp Coriander powder
- 1 tsp Pepper powder
- 1 tsp Salt as required
- 1 tsp Ghee optional
- 1 handful Coriander leaves
- few Curry leaves
- 2 tbsp Oil
- 1 tsp Ginger garlic paste
Instructions
- Add oil in a pre-heated kadai. Then add cinnamon sticks, cloves, aniseed and cardamom powder.
- Add finely chopped onion and saute for couple of minutes until it becomes transparent.
- Now add ginger garlic paste, fennel seed powder and cook until ginger garlic's raw smell goes.
- We can add chopped liver pieces and mix well.
- Add salt, pepper powder, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and coriander powder.
- Mix and Saute for couple of minutes and then add ghee now if you want to add ghee.
- Cook covered for 10 minutes or until liver is cooked. Keep stirring in between.
- Once liver is cooked, add coriander leaves and mix well then turn off the heat.
- Serve the liver stir fry hot.

Notes
- If you add ghee, it will enhance the flavour and tastes yummy.
- If you overcook the liver, it will become hard. So, cook for required time only and turn off the heat.

- Mix well then turn off the heat.
- Serve the liver stir fry hot.
