Moist chocolate cake recipe | How to make chocolate cake with ganache
Moist chocolate cake along chocolate ganache recipe with step-by-step pictures and video on how to make moist chocolate cake at home.
I made this chocolate cake on this new year day, 2021. It came out perfect soft and moist. We all loved it very much. So, I thought I would share the recipe with you all too.
I have such chocolate addicted boy at home. He keeps asking me for chocolate. So, I decided to make this chocolate cake along with chocolate ganache cream at home.
This is one of the basic chocolate cake recipe. I hope that you will also like it. I used chocolate chips for making chocolate cream for glazing. If you prefer, you can include gelatin as well to make mirror glazing.
Moreover, I used more dark chocolate chips and less milk chocolate chips to adjust our taste need. You can choose any flavor of chocolate chips as per your choice.
First, I prepared cake batter and placed it in oven. While it is baking, I prepared the chocolate ganache. The same way, you can also plan your timing.

Chocolate cake
Ingredients
Ingredients For Cake
- 1 cup Powdered Sugar
- 1 cup All purrpose flour / Maida
- ½ cup Cocoa powder
- ½ tsp Salt
- ½ tsp Baking powder
- ½ tsp Baking soda
- 2 Eggs
- ¼ cup Butter or Oil If you use oil, use flavorless oil like sunflower oil
- ½ cup Milk in room temparature
- ½ cup Warm water
Ingredients to prepare Ganache
- ½ cup Dark chocolate chips You can choose chocolate chips as per your interest
- ¼ cup Milk chocolate chips
- ½ cup Boiling hot milk
Instructions
Prepare Chocolate cake
- Preheat the oven for 180 degrees.
- In a mixing bowl, add powdered sugar.
- Sieve and then add flour and cocoa powder.
- Add salt, baking powder and baking soda.
- Whisk and combine all these dry ingredients.
- Now add wet ingredients eggs, butter/oil, milk and whisk.
- Add the warm water gradually and whisk until you get correct flowing batter consistency.
- Apply some oil or butter in the cake tin and place parchment paper.
- Pour the prepared batter in the cake tin.
- Place the cake tin in oven and bake at 180 degree for 40 minutes.
Prepare Chocolate ganache
- In a mixing bowl, add dark chocolate chips, milk chocolate chips and boiling hot milk.
- Mix and melt the chocolate chips in milk.
- You can heat it in double boiling method for couple of minutes or microwave to get the thick creamy consistency.
- Turn off heat when it reaches creamy consistency and keep aside.
Glaze the chocolate cake
- Take out cake after its fully baked. You can check by pricking it using a knife or toothpick. Let it cool for 10 minutes.
- Then transfer the cake to a plate and remove the parchment paper.
- Pour the chocolate ganache and level it up.
- Refrigerate for an hour to set it.
- Decorate it as you like. I have just topped it with the chocolate chips.
- Slice and serve.

5. Decorate it as you like. I have just topped it with the chocolate chips.
