Home made strawberry jam

Strawberry jam recipe to make at home.

Ingredients
  

  • 500 g Strawberry
  • 300 g Sugar
  • 1 Lemon

Instructions
 

  • Clean and remove stems in strawberries
  • Chop the strawberry into small pieces. If you want paste like jam, then chop the strawberries finely.
  • In a kadai, add chopped strawberry and sugar and start cooking.
  • Cook in high flame until the sugar melts. Then, keep medium flame.
  • Add lemon juice.
  • After the mix started boiling, keep low flame till end.
  • Keep stirring often to avoid burning.
  • Mash the strawberry with ladle or potato masher.
  • Cook until the jam mix is not sticky to the plate but smoothly flowing out from spoon.
  • Turn off the heat and let it cool down.
  • Transfer to airtight container and store.
  • You can spread on breads or chapati and enjoy.

Notes

  1. Size of strawberry pieces should be as per your choice. If you like chunks in jam, cut a fruit into 4 pieces. If you like paste-like jam, cut the fruit finely and mash it well while cooking.
  2. Adding lemon juice is must to preserve the jam.
  3. This jam stays good at room temperature in airtight container.
  4. If you like pink colored jam, use white sugar. Adding brown sugar alters the jam color. 
  5. You can try variations using palm jaggery or sugar cane jaggery too.
