Plum Chutney
Plum chutney is made with goodness of spices, sweet and sour. It makes very tasty side dish for all type of snacks and tiffin such as idli, dosa, chapathi, samosa or even vada.

- 10 Plum fruits
- 2 ½ tbsp Oil
- 1 tsp Mustard
- Few Curry leaves
- 1 Lemon
- ¼ cup Jaggery You can use sugar too
- 2 tbsp Sugar Optional, You can use jaggery fully if you prefer
- 1 tsp Salt as required
Spices
- 1 tsp Cumin / Seeragam
- 1 tsp Fennel seeds / Perunjeeragam
- ½ tsp Karunjeeragam / black cumin/ nigella-
- 1/2 tsp Whole pepper / Milagu
- ½ tsp Fenugreek seeds / methi / Vendhayam
- 2 Red chilli
- 1 Kashmiri red chilli
- 1 inch Ginger
Add oil in the preheated kadai. Add mustard seeds and let it crackle.
Add curry leaves and then add all ingredients given under spices and saute for 30 seconds.
Add chopped plum fruit pieces and required salt.Saute until the plums are mashed.
Now add jaggery, sugar and lemon juice and cook until jaggery dissolves.
Let it cool for 5 to 10 minutes.Transfer to mixer jar and grind coarsely based on the consistency you might prefer.
Store in airtight container. Serve it with any type of tiffin or snack.
